About this Event

শারদীয়া দুর্গোৎসব — Sarodiya Durgotsov

The Bengali Society of Geelong warmly invites you to our Durga Puja — two free days of ritual, music, food and community, open to everyone.

Durga Puja marks the goddess Durga's victory over evil and the return of a daughter to her parents' home. For Bengalis it is the year's great homecoming, and in 2021 UNESCO inscribed it on its list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

A purohit from Kolkata
Our rituals will be led by a visiting priest from Kolkata, performed in full as they are at home.

Free lunch, both days
A sumptuous traditional bhog will be served to all guests on both days, proudly supported by a famous Indian food house.
