We are pleased to announce that three senior devotees of Srila Prabhupada’s ISKCON Bangalore Group will be accepting Sannyasa Ashrama in Sridham Vrindavan. These highly respected leaders of our movement have devoted several decades of their lives to serving Srila Prabhupada’s mission.
The acceptance of the Sannyasa order marks a significant milestone in a devotee’s spiritual life, characterised by complete surrender in service of Sri Guru and Gauranga.
On this joyous occasion, we pray for the blessings of Sri Sri Radha Vrindavanchandra and Srila Prabhupada upon these Vaishnavas as they embrace the holy renounced order to propagate Krishna consciousness with even greater dedication.
Seeking the blessings of Srila Prabhupada, three senior devotees of Srila Prabhupada's ISKCON receive sannyasa diksha, initiation into the renounced order of life, at Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir.
📅 Wednesday, 4 November 2026 · 11 AM IST onwards
📍 Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir, Vrindavan
Receiving sannyasa diksha:
- HG Amitasana Dasa — GBC Member; President, Srila Prabhupada's ISKCON, Mumbai & Jaipur
- HG Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa — GBC Member; President, Srila Prabhupada's ISKCON, Hyderabad
- HG Sridham Krishna Dasa — Vice President, Srila Prabhupada's ISKCON, Bangalore
What is sannyasa?
Sannyasa is the fourth and final ashram (stage of life) in Vedic culture. A sannyasi renounces all worldly ties and personal ambitions, and offers his entire life to the service of Lord Krishna and to sharing His message with everyone.
“Sannyasa means to sacrifice everything for the Supreme.”
— Srila Prabhupada (Letter to Sacisuta, 19 September 1969)
Srila Prabhupada taught that true renunciation is measured by one's dedication to Krishna, and that a sannyasi's life is meant for preaching. He lived this himself: he accepted sannyasa in 1959, and in 1965 he went to America with just forty rupees to give Krishna consciousness to the whole world.
