Description: Guests use carved vegetables, spice bundles, and found kitchen tools to block-print patterns onto cloth. Inspired by West African adire, Southern quilting improvisation, and diasporic textile traditions, participants create reusable cloth wraps for food or books.
**Participants leave with:** A set of printed tea towels.
October - Indigo & Earth: A Textile Dyeing Workshop
Description: Explore the rich blue of indigo and the warm, grounding palette of natural earth tones. Participants will learn the basics of natural dyeing and create a set of cloth placemats using indigo and kitchen- and plant-based dyes. The workshop connects textile making with Southern foodways, land, and the tradition of transforming everyday materials into something beautiful and useful.
**Participants leave with:** A set of naturally dyed placemats.
November - Aprons of Inheritance: Sewing from Memory
Description: Reclaim, remake, and remember. Participants will use natural earth tone dyes to transform aprons inspired by the generations of Black cooks, bakers, gardeners, and makers who made the kitchen a place of creativity, care, and entrepreneurship. Along the way, we'll explore the stories held in everyday textiles and the role aprons have played in Black food traditions.
**Participants leave with:** A one-of-a-kind upcycled apron.
December - Stocking the Kitchen: Southern Food Stocking Stuffers
Description: This hands-on holiday gathering celebrates the tradition of giving food as a gesture of care. Participants will create small upcycled stockings to fill with giftable treats inspired by the flavors of a Southern Christmas—including citrus, walnuts, peppermint, and cakes. The workshop invites guests to think about food as gift, memory, hospitality, and inheritance.
**Participants leave with:** A stocking filled with edible seasonal and homemade Southern-gifts.
