An Emmy-winning, outside-the-box musical force is coming to Bowling Green. Sanctuary Sessions is thrilled to announce a solo showcase with cellist, singer-songwriter, and activist Ben Sollee on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at 4:00 PM.Over two decades, Ben Sollee has redefined what the cello can do, blending R&B, folk, and classical elements into a style uniquely his own. From his acclaimed 2008 debut to an Emmy Award and scores for major feature films, Sollee has built an expansive musical catalog celebrated by The New York Times and NPR.
This special 90 minute performance marks the third concert in the 2026 Sanctuary Sessions series. The afternoon will center entirely on Sollee’s songwriting, masterful playing, and compelling narrative storytelling.
✨ What Makes This Performance Special?
• A Journey Through "Time on Hold": Fresh off the release of his latest studio album, Sollee will perform new compositions and fresh interpretations of his most requested songs. The new record draws inspiration from early 1970s soul-infused country music, blending grand arrangements with classic Kentucky storytelling.
• Deep Local & Cinematic Roots: You’ve likely heard his work on hit TV shows like Parenthood and Weeds, or his score for Robin Wright's film LAND. Locally, Sollee recently scored the short documentary "Willie and His Pigs," featuring Bowling Green’s own regenerative farmer, Willie Huston.
• Music with a Mission: For Sollee, music is a tool for community connection and environmental advocacy. Through partnerships with organizations like The Nature Conservancy and Oxfam America, his work embodies Sanctuary Sessions' core values—using art to foster togetherness, include rather than exclude, and help humans grow closer to each other and the environment.
