Join the SAME Mid-Maryland Post on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, for a one-day industry event focused on the critical infrastructure that underpins our nation’s defense missions. Bringing together federal and defense leaders, utilities, technology and data center experts, engineers, developers, and industry partners, the event will explore how energy and digital infrastructure are increasingly interconnected and why the resilience of both is essential to national security.
Attendees can expect a keynote and interactive discussions addressing federal and defense mission resilience, electric grid security, the growing energy demands of data centers, and the design and delivery of resilient digital infrastructure. Sessions will examine issues including continuity of operations, mission assurance, grid and transmission planning, data center capacity, site selection, permitting, water and cooling, redundancy, physical hardening, and future-proofing. The day will conclude with a session looking ahead to what resilience should look like in the future and a reception providing opportunities for networking and continued conversation.
Parking will be at the USNA stadium with bus transport into the facility.

Keynote Speaker
Honorable Lucian Niemeyer F. SAME
Over three decades, Lucian has served in the White House, the Pentagon, and in Congress providing budget, policy, and management leadership for U.S. national security programs. Lucian served as an Assistant Secretary of Defense managing the world’s largest real property and energy portfolio valued at a trillion dollars. He also served as an Assistant Secretary of the Navy, and in the Office of Management and Budget at the White House in 2020-21. From 2003 to 2014, he served on the professional staff of the United States Senate Committee on Armed Services
Lucian also provides strategic advisory services for economic and business development to public and private clients. He currently leads initiatives to develop large scale energy and data center campuses, to enhance fuels resilience, and to accelerate design/construction processes using artificial intelligence/virtual twins. Lucian serves on numerous corporate boards providing national security expertise for rapid acquisition of emerging technologies. He was recently appointed serve on the U.S. Secretary of Energy’s Advisory Board.
Continuing his commitment to public service, Lucian also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Building Cyber Security, a private sector, non-profit organization enhancing global safety through the development of cyber security protections for intelligent technologies, buildings and communities. He also is a founding Principal Director for the non-profit organization, United Coalition for Advanced Nuclear Power (UCAN Power) to promote the use of nuclear reactors for national security and commercial use.
