Saltburn Ice Trail is back! This year's theme is Enchanted Woodland and renowned ice sculptors Sand in Your Eye will once again be creating incredible ice sculptures around the town. Look out for a robin in a little hat and scarf, a wise old owl, an ice-skating hare, a mischievous mouse and some cheeky squirrels as well as a live carved ice throne and many more magical creations across Saltburn in a wonderful one-day trail for families to explore. Each sculpture will reveal a secret that you’ll need to find to complete the trail competition.
Redcar and Cleveland Council have this year teamed up with the National Literacy Trust’s Year of Reading and they are providing an amazing donation of 1000 books for all ages for the first 1000 people to complete the trail and hand it back into the library.
Whilst you are in the library, you can also enjoy festive story-telling with The Winter Enchantress, and the Elves will be on hand to help you write a letter to Santa and post it in the ice post box.
Next door to the library in Saltburn Community Hall, the Stocking Filler Christmas Market is the perfect place for last minute gifts and you can also warm up with hot chocolate and mulled wine. And don’t forget the Christmas Saltburn Farmer’s Market for tasty treats from local suppliers.
The trail also features an exciting live ice carve and look out for walkabout characters including The Living Lampposts, Victorian elves Ebor and Gum and Frosty the Snowman.
The day runs from 10am to 4pm (Farmers Market 9am to 2pm) but be sure to get down as early as you can. If the sun shines, those Ice Sculptures start to melt!
With thanks to our sponsors Everyone Active, Hays Travel, Bob Little & Co and The National Literacy Trust.
