About this Event
Ever wish you could just walk outside and pick your own salad? In this hands-on workshop, you'll build your very own portable "salad bar garden", no yard required, just a grow bag and a little guidance.
This session is indoor-focused as we head into frost season, perfect if you're growing on a windowsill, in an apartment, or anywhere without direct outdoor sun.
We'll open with a short guided breathwork session, then dive into hands-on planting. You'll transplant your own lettuce and take your very first taste right there. I'll teach you both cut-and-come-again methods (leaf-by-leaf and the "ponytail" handful cut) so you know exactly how to harvest as your garden grows, week after week. We'll close with fresh juice samples.
I'll guide you through everything step by step.
You'll leave with:
• A fully planted 5-gallon grow bag, ready to grow
• Premium soil (the same Happy Frog / Coast of Maine I use in my own garden)
• A heat-tolerant lettuce transplant, plus cold-hardy lettuce and radish seeds for a second harvest later in the season
• The “never buy scallions again” trick! Regrow them from your own kitchen scraps
• Edible violas for a garden that’s as beautiful as it is delicious
• Straw mulch, a trowel, and gloves ... everything you need, nothing to bring
• A fertilizer starter dose, so you’re set for weeks after the workshop
• A live harvest tasting, so you know exactly what to expect
• A care guide with a built-in succession-planting plan, so you’re harvesting through November
• Access to our private Grow-Along group, where we cheer each other on all season
Optional add-on: Self-watering reservoir insert (+$25-30), for anyone who wants to water just once a week instead of daily.
With special thanks to our collective partners for guided breathwork and fresh juice samples.
