TWENTY YEARS. STILL ON THE MAT.On 7 November 2006, Newcastle Aikido opened its doors. Two months later, the first two students stepped onto the mat.
Twenty years on, we're still here.
Twenty years of breakfalls, early mornings, cold winters, sore bodies, hard lessons and the work that goes into learning a martial art.
People have come through our doors at different stages of life, for different reasons. They've learned, made mistakes, pushed themselves and put in the hours. Some have stayed for decades. Others have moved on, but they've all been part of the dojo's story.
Aikido takes work. You get things wrong, you get back up, and you keep learning. You do that alongside the same people, week after week. Twenty years on, that's what we're here to celebrate.
The people, the practice and everything that's gone into building Newcastle Aikido over the last two decades.
And we're celebrating the way we know best. Together, on the mat.

Haven't stepped on the mat in a while? Come back.
Dig out your gi, walk through the doors and get amongst it again. Whether it's been months or years, we'd love to have you back training alongside us.
Good training, familiar faces and the chance to catch up with people you may not have seen in years.
On Saturday night, we'll gather around the table, share a meal and swap a few stories. Bring a plate, bring the family and settle in for a good night with the dojo crew.
Twenty years is a lot of classes, a lot of lessons and a lot of people who have helped make this place what it is.
