About this Event
The Advent Retreat will explore the Incarnation of God into embodied human nature at the first Christmas, and what that means for your own life as an embodied person. We are all created with bodies, but it is not always easy to live our bodiliness in a holy way. Drawing from the wisdom of St. John Paul II in his encyclical “Redemptor Hominis” (“Redeemer of Mankind”) as well as his “Theology of the Body” insights, this retreat will offer encouraging food for prayer regarding the goodness of your body, the struggles that come with bodily holiness, and the hope of redemption and growth offered by Jesus as our Incarnate Redeemer.
The retreat will also discuss the Advent themes of waiting and longing for God’s powerful love as it relates to bodily desires, as well as experiencing our desires as a mutual “gift of self” to offer and to receive ultimately from God in prayer: major themes of St. John Paul II’s teaching which still have major relevance to all persons today.
