About this Event
In November 2027, MYTIME Young Carers is taking a team to Morocco for an unforgettable 50km trek through the Sahara Desert and we’re looking for people who want to take on the challenge with us.
Our Sahara Trek Information Evening is an informal opportunity to find out what the challenge involves, meet the team behind it and decide whether this could be your next adventure.
There is absolutely no commitment to sign up by attending.
WHO ARE MYTIME YOUNG CARERS?
Young carers are children and young people who help care for someone they love because of illness, disability, mental health difficulties, substance misuse or another care need.
While other young people might be worrying about homework, seeing friends or what they’re doing at the weekend, a young carer may also be helping with Medic*tion, household tasks, providing emotional support or looking after another member of their family.
That responsibility can have a huge impact on their education, friendships, confidence and opportunities to simply enjoy being young.
MYTIME Young Carers exists to help change that.
Through our programmes, we help young carers feel recognised and understood, give them opportunities to take a break from their caring responsibilities, make memories, meet other young people who understand and build confidence for their future.
By taking on the Sahara Trek, our team will be raising vital funds to help us continue that work.
SO… WHAT IS THE SAHARA TREK?
From 25–30 November 2027, Team MYTIME will travel to Morocco for a six-day adventure, including four days trekking approximately 50km through the Sahara.
You’ll trek through incredible desert landscapes, experience life in the Sahara, camp beneath the stars and take on a challenge that will push you outside your comfort zone.
You don’t need to be an experienced trekker, athlete or someone who currently spends every weekend climbing mountains.
There’s plenty of time to prepare, and MYTIME will be there to support you with both your training and fundraising throughout the journey.
You can find out more about MYTIME and the trek by clicking here
The registration fee is £395, with a £2,000 minimum fundraising target. A self-funded option is also available, and we’ll explain both options fully during the evening.
WHAT HAPPENS AT THE INFORMATION EVENING?
We’ll talk you through everything you might want to know before deciding whether to join us, including:
- What the Sahara Trek actually involves
- The six-day itinerary and what a typical trekking day looks like
- Accommodation and camping in the desert
- Travel arrangements and what’s included
- Costs and the different funding options
- Your fundraising commitment and all the support you’ll receive from MYTIME
- Training and how fit you need to be
- Kit and what you’ll need to take
- What support you’ll have while you’re in Morocco
- How to sign up if you decide the challenge is for you
- Plenty of time to ask absolutely anything you’re wondering about
You’ll also get the chance to meet some of the other people considering the challenge, because one of the best parts of the experience will be taking it on as part of Team MYTIME.
