Cohen Children’s Medical Center is proud to be a Safe Sitter® site! Safe Sitter® Essentials is an exciting, hands-on program designed to help young teens build the skills and confidence they need to stay safe and prepared when caring for themselves or others—whether they’re home alone, sibling sitting, or babysitting.
During this interactive program, students will learn and practice:
- Safety Skills – Learn how to prevent emergencies and respond confidently when they happen.
- Child Care Skills – Build practical skills for caring for young children, including diapering and other everyday responsibilities.
- First Aid & Rescue Skills – Learn what to do in an emergency and how to respond when someone needs help.
- Life & Business Skills – Gain valuable communication, responsibility, and babysitting business skills.
Who Can Attend:
- This class is open to students currently enrolled in grades 5-12.
What to Bring:
- A doll or teddy bear to use for hands-on diapering and choking rescue practice
- Lunch, snacks, and drinks! There will be designated break and lunch times so please pack accordingly.

What will participants receive?
Participants will receive a Safe Sitter student manual and other supplies required for the course.
How will we receive more information about the program?
All communications will be sent to the parent/guardian's email provided at registration.
How much is the program per participant?
The program costs $15 per participant.
What is the refund policy?
Full refunds are available up to three weeks before the program. If your child is no longer able to attend and we are no longer in the refund period, we can reschedule your class.
Is there a waiting list?
Yes. There is a waiting list. If there is an opening, then you will be contacted via email through Eventbrite.
