This opening marks an important milestone in the Region of Waterloo’s ongoing commitment to reconciliation, relationship-building, and creating spaces that honor Indigenous cultures, teachings, and traditions. The Sacred Fire Site will serve as a place for ceremony, reflection, learning, and community connection.
The ceremony will include opening remarks, Sacred Fire teachings, and time to gather in community. A light meal will be shared.
We are grateful to the Fire Keepers, Indigenous community members, and partners whose guidance and collaboration helped bring this vision to life. We would be honored by your presence as we mark this meaningful addition to our community spaces together.
