Join us for our fall opera performance of Rusalka! -----
Water nymphs. A bargain with a witch. The pain of a love lost. Sound vaguely familiar?
Antonin Dvorak's beloved Rusalka, based on slavic folklore and Hans Christian Anderson's 1837 fairy tale, The Little Mermaid, appears on the Salt Marsh Opera stage this October for the first time ever!
This is the tragic story about a water nymph who sacrifices her voice to a witch, Jezibaba to become human and marry a prince. After he rejects her for a foreign princess, she becomes a cursed sprite, ultimately killing the Prince with a fatal kiss.
Katy Lindhart stars as Rusalka, singing the famous aria, Song to the Moon. Sam Weiser as Vodnik, Emily Geller as Jezibaba and Joe Haughton as the Prince lead a stellar cast to bring you this lovely opera. Polonaise and folk dances...
It's a story of love, desire, betrayal and loss, set among the mysterious and eerie waterways of yore.
Beautiful staging, costumes, a full orchestra and more will submerge you in a classic and timeless story.
