Dear Potential Athlete Sponsor(s),The Archbishop Rummel Powerlifting Team will be hosting our annual LIFT-A-THON on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Archbishop Rummel High School.
You may be wondering, “What exactly is a Lift-A-Thon?”
A Lift-A-Thon is a fun and exciting way for our Raider athletes to demonstrate the hard work, dedication, and strength they have developed throughout the year—while also helping raise money for the equipment, uniforms, travel, and competitions that make our program possible.
How Does It Work?
This is where you—our family, friends, and supporters—come in!
We are asking you to sponsor your favorite Raider athlete by pledging a monetary amount for every pound he lifts during the Lift-A-Thon.
You can pledge whatever amount you are comfortable with:
* A flat-dollar donation
* $0.01 per pound
* $0.05 per pound
* $0.10 per pound
* Or even $1.00 per pound!
Every pledge, regardless of size, makes a difference.
We are also asking sponsors to consider pledging an additional amount if their athlete establishes a NEW Personal Record (PR) during the event. This gives our athletes even more motivation to challenge themselves and see just how strong they can become!
Here’s an Example
Powerlifting consists of three lifts:
Squat • Bench Press • Deadlift
The athlete’s heaviest successful attempt in each lift is added together to create his total.
For example:
Squat: 300 lbs
Bench Press: 200 lbs
Deadlift: 300 lbs
Total: 800 lbs
At a pledge of just $0.05 per pound, that athlete would raise:
800 lbs × $0.05 = $40
That $40 could help cover a competition entry fee, equipment, travel expenses, or other costs associated with the program.
And yes—we have Rummel athletes capable of lifting 800 pounds or more in a three-lift total!
This Year’s Goal
Our goal this year is to make a significant investment in the future of the Archbishop Rummel Powerlifting Program.
We are raising funds to purchase:
🏋️ TWO Competition Combo Racks
from Hansu Power
$1,940 shipped
🏋️ TEN Competition Barbells — Louisiana Bar
from X-Mark Fitness in Shreveport, Louisiana
$369 each + shipping
These pieces of equipment will allow our athletes to train and compete with equipment that more closely matches what they will encounter at sanctioned powerlifting competitions. More importantly, this equipment will serve Rummel athletes for years to come.
Our team currently consists of approximately 20 student-athletes, including several 8th-grade students. Because our 8th graders are not eligible to compete in varsity sports, the Lift-A-Thon gives them an opportunity to challenge themselves, contribute to the team, and experience the competitive side of powerlifting.
Your Support Matters
Powerlifting teaches our athletes much more than how to lift weights.
It teaches discipline, perseverance, accountability, humility, teamwork, and the value of hard work. Every pound they lift represents hours of training and preparation.
Whether you sponsor an athlete for a penny per pound, fifty cents per pound, make a flat donation, or contribute toward our equipment fund, your support directly benefits these young men and our entire program.
We are extremely grateful for your support of Archbishop Rummel Powerlifting and for investing in the young men who represent our school.
Thank you for supporting our Raiders!
