About this Event
N/YANG is a meditative duet that explores balance through the Chinese concept of Yin-Yang and the Japanese concept of In-Yo. Awarded the Chrystal Dance Prize, Vancouver-based dance artist Eric Cheung collaborated with Japanese artist Kinui Oiwa to explore duality, interdependence, and dynamic balance through two contrasting movement practices. Drawing on the Five Elements—Metal, Wood, Earth, Fire, and Water—as a structure for the piece, the work unfolds within a circular light installation, considering balance not as something fixed, but as something continuously negotiated between bodies, space, and opposing forces.
