ROOT WORD is an adult spelling bee where language takes center stage. Equal parts competition, culture, and celebration, this one-of-a-kind evening transforms words into live entertainment.
Hosted at OUTER SPACE Greenhouse + Courtyard, this year's competition draws inspiration from the living world around us. Every word featured throughout the evening is rooted in plants, botanicals, ecology, and the natural world—inviting contestants to explore the rich vocabulary that helps us name, understand, and care for the environments we inhabit.
Sixteen contestants will step into the spotlight to compete for the title of ROOT WORD Champion and a $500 Cash Grand Prize. Each round raises the stakes as competitors put their vocabulary, confidence, and composure to the test.
The audience is part of the experience, too. Cheer on your favorite contestants, join in interactive moments throughout the evening, and be automatically entered into raffle drawings featuring prizes from local businesses and creative partners.
