Join us for an evening with Ron Hartung, as he discusses his new book, The Man in the Red Flannel Shirt, with Mary Ann Lindley. ABOUT THE BOOK
This is a collection of columns and essays Ron has written over the years for the newspaper, for newsletters or just because. Poet Marda Messick wrote about this book: “Ron Hartung’s true stories, curated from his life and work, are hilarious, poignant and deeply humane. Whether the subject is family, church, grammatical errors, reckless drivers or his own foibles, Hartung’s tone is gently wry, his phrases well-turned and his heart tuned to lovingkindness. It’s a pleasure to be a guest in his world.”
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Ron Hartung grew up in the Midwest, earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Bradley University and – 36 years later – got a master’s in journalism from the University of Kansas. For 32 years he was an editor and columnist at the Tallahassee Democrat newspaper, sometimes using the pen names Traffic Doctor and Grammar Man. Even in retirement, he’ll happily answer your questions about “who” vs. “whom.” He’s proud to be a volunteer copy editor for the Apalachee Press family.
