Roll Into Homeownership: A Sushi PITI Craft & Learn
What does a sushi roll have to do with planning for homeownership? More than you might think!
Join Mortgage Loan Originator Kathie “Kat” Fish and Realtor Rob Thompson for a free, relaxed craft-and-learn class where we’ll turn mortgage terminology into something you can see, touch and remember.
You’ll receive a felt craft kit and step-by-step help creating your own sushi set, including:
- A colorful Sushi PITI Roll
- A just-for-fun salmon roll
- Felt ginger and wasabi
- A little felt soy sauce circle
As we craft, Kat will use the Sushi PITI Roll to explain the pieces that can make up a monthly housing payment—including principal, interest, property taxes, homeowners insurance, mortgage insurance and HOA dues.
We’ll also talk about:
- The difference between the payment you may qualify for and the payment that feels comfortable
- Budget considerations that are easy to overlook
- How online calculators can help you explore different scenarios
- The roles of your mortgage professional and Realtor
- Simple first steps you can take—even if buying a home is still a future goal
Rob will be available to answer general questions about the home search and real estate process, while Kat helps make the mortgage side feel less mysterious.
There’s no pressure, no expectation that you’re ready to buy and no judgment about where you’re starting. Come make something cute, enjoy some snacks and leave with your completed felt sushi set, a simple comfort-budget guide and more clarity about the ingredients of homeownership.
