Join us at The Covellite for the premiere of Roadless, a documentary following three adventurers on foot through the remote Alaskan wilderness as they trace the proposed route of the 211-mile Ambler Mining Road.
Traveling more than 160 miles north of the Arctic Circle, the team crosses vast tundra, wild rivers, and pristine forests, facing injuries, exhaustion, hunger, relentless mosquitoes, and challenging terrain without roads or trails. Along the way, they experience the remarkable beauty of the Arctic, from wildlife encounters to the region’s endless summer daylight.
Directed by Robert Lester, Roadless offers a firsthand look at one of North America’s most remote and ecologically intact landscapes while exploring what could be lost if the Ambler Road is built. Running 62 minutes, the film brings adventure, exploration, and conservation together in a story about the places that remain wild and the choices that could change them.
Lester is an expedition athlete, environmental steward, filmmaker, and writer whose work focuses on adventure and the protection of wild places. His previous documentary, The Columbia River Canoe Project, follows his 52-day, 1,300-mile human-powered journey down the Clark Fork of the Columbia River from Butte, Montana, to the Pacific Ocean.
Come watch Roadless on the big screen and experience a journey into the Alaskan wilderness, with a closer look at the future of this extraordinary landscape.
