This is a Flames of War Late War four-round, two-day tournament themed around the Anzio breakout and subsequent push to Highway 6, the Road to Rome. This will be 100 points from Liberation Italy, with red vs blue matchups. To represent the importance of artillery in these battles, you may take an observer for free (if your force is eligible). Registration is $20 (or $10 for one day) cash only at the door. Register and report your faction on Best Coast Pairings (BCP) at https://www.bestcoastpairings.com/event/LqXMjpjKnrZX. Participants that register and indicate their faction, arrive on time and bring a painted force receive a free re-roll *each round*. A painted army is defined as each team having a minimum of two colors, and bases must be painted a natural-tone color. We will be playing a modified version of the Axis of Attack (AoA) – Anzio campaign (recently updated by Battlefront and downloadable here: https://www.battlefront-community.com/article/italy-axis-of-attack-campaign/). Thematically, there are five sectors between Anzio and Rome. The winning side of each round advances the battle to the next sector. If the Allies win all four rounds, they enter Rome for an Allied stunning victory. If the Axis win all four rounds, the Allies are pushed into the sea for an Axis stunning victory. Everything else results in a stalemate.
The campaign begins in the Factory sector with the Allies having initiative. For subsequent rounds, the winning side for the current round has the initiative for the next round. The side with initiative becomes the attacker and may choose either the attack or maneuver battle plan, and is automatically the attacker in meeting engagements; the opposing side may choose either maneuver or defend.
Special Rules
• Each round may be affected by winter rains (50% chance). On a TO die roll of 3-5, tank teams are limited to terrain dash in open terrain and cross country dash on roads. On a 6, the same affects apply with the additional rule that tank teams moving in open terrain will require a cross check for any movement beyond 8-inches.
• Aircraft arrive on a 3+ and may reroll their third attempt to range in. The US Total Air Superior command card improves aircraft arrival by 1 (i.e., arrive on a 2+).
• Naval bombardments require a 4+ instead of the normal 5+ to determine if a formation HQ team or observer team can attempt to range in.
