About this Event

River Clean Up — Help Restore the Kern!

Join Bring Back the Kern for a morning of hands-on stewardship along our river. We're gathering volunteers to clear trash and debris from the Kern River corridor and keep one of Bakersfield's greatest natural resources beautiful, healthy, and ready for everyone to enjoy.

Whether you're a longtime river advocate or just looking for a meaningful way to give back, all are welcome. No experience needed — just show up ready to make a difference. It's a great fit for families, students earning service hours, community groups, and anyone who loves the Kern.

📅 When: Saturday, October 10, 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM

📍 Where: Riverwalk Bike Path, across from the Spectrum store
Park at 10424 Stockdale Highway, Bakersfield, CA

What to bring:

  • A hat and sunscreen — it gets sunny out there!
  • A reusable water bottle to stay hydrated
  • Closed-toe shoes you don't mind getting dirty
  • Work gloves if you have them (we'll have supplies on hand too)

Trash bags and cleanup gear will be provided. We'll wrap up by 10:30 so you've still got the rest of your Saturday.

Every piece of trash we remove is one less thing harming the river and the wildlife that depend on it. Come be part of bringing the Kern back to life.
