About this Event
On 15 November, Ritual Rave Choir takes over Rotterdam’s iconic Laurenskerk for an afternoon of raw voices, ancient folk traditions, hypnotic rhythm and modern electronic sound.
This is not a traditional choir concert.
Ritual Rave Choir brings together singers from different cultures and musical backgrounds, transforming folk music into something cinematic, physical and contemporary.
Ancient melodies meet electronic beats. Polyphonic voices collide with bass, rhythm and atmosphere. Music rooted in villages, rituals and collective memory suddenly feels like it could belong in Dune, The Witcher, or a film that hasn’t been made yet.
The programme travels through different European folk traditions: from the cinematic atmosphere of “Duna” and the raw Bulgarian voices of “Kaval Sviri,” to the pulse of Romanian “Hora” and the haunting Dutch folk song “Daar was een sneeuwwit vogeltje.”
And more.
Old songs. New sound. One collective voice.
Inside the monumental acoustics of Laurenskerk, voices become something bigger:
part concert, part ritual, part rave.
