We all know there are empty buildings in Redruth. We all know people care about the town and want to see it thrive. And we already have some brilliant organisations doing exactly that, like Redruth Revival, The Ladder and Creative Kernow. But what if there was a way for the whole community to have a real say in what happens next?
Join us at the Wesley Chapel for an evening with Hannah Sloggett from Nudge Community Builders, who will be sharing her experience of community-led regeneration.
Nudge is a community benefit society based in Plymouth, where local people can become members and collectively shape what happens in their neighbourhood. Members buy shares, but no matter how many shares you hold, everyone gets one vote. It’s about local people having real ownership and influence.
Hannah will talk about how Nudge has worked with the community to transform parts of Union Street, an area that was once known for its nightlife and challenges, into a growing hub of creative, social and community activity. There will be a presentation followed by time for questions.
We’ll also open up the conversation to Redruth:
If you could take on any empty building, what would you do with it?
What is the town missing?
What should our high street look and feel like in the future?
Who is currently underserved?
We hear a lot of frustration about Redruth online. This is a chance to turn that into something constructive. A chance to understand what it actually takes to make change happen, and what role each of us can play.
This event is open to everyone. Come along, meet people, share ideas, and get inspired by what can happen when a community pulls in the same direction.
It’s free, it’s informal, and it might just be the start of something really exciting.
Please grab a ticket, so we know how many people to expect.
