About this Event
In this practical workshop experienced brand designer Cherry Anderson will share the principles professional designers use when creating and refining logos – from making your business stand out from competitors, to scaling across platforms, to the fine details that bring polish and credibility. The workshop is aimed at small businesses, sole-traders and comms creators who aren't professionally trained in design.
A designer for 25 years, Cherry Anderson has created for high street retailers, global organisations, universities and small businesses. She now specialises in supporting purpose-led and sustainable organisations. By sharing her knowledge and expertise she will take your businesses to the next level, bringing you credibility, authenticity and visilibity – making the world a better place through stunning design!
In this 2 hour session, we will explore what makes a logo polished, distinctive, clear, balanced and versatile, as well as some of the common design decisions that can unintentionally make a logo look generic or unfinished.
And then we'll put it into practice – you’ll work live on your logo whilst Cherry circulates to give one-to-one guidance.

What to expect
This is a small, friendly, hands-on workshop with just 6 places, giving everyone plenty of opportunity for individual feedback.
Bring your laptop (or tablet) and your current logo to work on – whether you've created it yourself, are halfway through designing it, or are thinking about refreshing it.

As Cherry circulates, you'll get focused one-to-one advice on your own logo, having also learnt from the examples and questions that come up around the room.

The venue
Luminary is a podcast, photography and video studio in a beautiful old building on Cheapside in Belper, Derbyshire, which is right at the top of the high street (King Street). Easily accessible by bus from the surrounding areas or you can park for free nearby in the Coppice Car Park.
