About this Event

Join Ring of Keys and The Bechdel Project for a night of new work by Keys!

First up, at 5:30 pm, it's a concert reading of , a new musical by .

Bury Your Gays is a new musical comedy about gay teenagers who encounter cosmic horrors in their high school basement. It’s 2013 in Central Jersey’s Dunmouth Township, where the 17-year cicadas refuse to die. Gio’s father describes the mutant cicadas as “unnatural,” the same word he used last summer when Gio came out as a lesbian. Determined to find the reason for the cicadas’ mutations and for her own queerness, Gio becomes obsessed with investigating the (un)natural.

Then, at 7pm, enjoy a reading of Desi & The Ball, a short film by , presented by

When a stray billiard ball comes crashing through his ceiling, Desi Reyes recruits his two besties and a crew of local misfits to solve the neighborhood mystery, and discovers the importance of trusting himself along the way."Desi & the Ball" is a queer romp through a topsy-turvy, Alice in Wonderland-style Brooklyn, with a cast of fierce and wacky characters.

Finally, close the night with dancing, drinks, snacks, and connection - chat with the actors, meet the writers, and hang with fellow Keys and other artists!

The entire night is free, but seats are limited and RSVPS are required. You can book for one or both readings!

Ring of Key is a proud recipient of the Community Space Residency at Bechdel Project, which provides free space for work that amplifies the voices and stories of women, non-binary, and underrepresented genders. Applications are open for the next round here!
