Want something a bit more strategic and complex? Join us for the strategic and exciting Japanese style of Riichi Mahjong!Sunday, October 25th, 2026
12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Herald Street Brew Works (506 Herald Street)
It is recommended that you have the basics of Mahjong under your belt, whether that's Hong Kong style or Riichi.
If you've never played Riichi before, there's plenty of ways to familiarize yourself with the game. I recommend this series by "Light Grunty" on Youtube who covers the basics clearly. He has a couple different playlists on his account.
The Basics - Riichi Mahjong Guide (~45 mins total):
Yaku and Scoring - Riichi Mahjong Guide (~2 hours)
I also recommend diginova's Riichi Cheat Sheets as a much easier to digest list of possible hands in Riichi. His cheat sheet and teaching sheets are excellent.
