The workshop Riding the Waves of Possibilities is proposing an embodiedmultisensory way of knowing, grounded in sensitizing oneself to each other and the environment by asking: how do we cultivate the ability to sense and stay with
multiple possible unfoldings at once while keeping the unused “lit” in your periphery?
In other words, how do we expand our awareness in such a way that makes us
capable of noticing multiple possibilities at once, and how do we choose?(or letting it choose us?!).
We will also ask the question: What modes of attention and practices can bring us into responsible relationships?
With inspiration from Steve Paxton's material on politics of mutuality and gravity, Lisa Nelson's Tuning Scores and the philosophy of Erin Manning and Fred Moton and my article “Composing Mutual Ties”, we will work with compositional tools to help tune our attention, so that improvisation becomes a process of noticing, selecting, and composing in real time.
Gravity is our constant companion, and it is a force we all have in common as humans and non-humans on this planet earth. Through playful and challenging guided explorations, we will work with sensing where the direction
for down is by letting gravity inform our bodies. You will get tools to move on your
own, and tools for being in physical contact with others. We will practice the art of falling, catching the waves of possibilities, flying, rolling, sliding, balancing, losing balance, awkwardness, spiraling, weight sharing, counterbalance, being in the unknown and much much more.

För att komma till Brännö åker du enklast spårvagn till Saltholmen och sedan färja.
Färja till ön: Saltholmen-Brännö Rödsten åker kl 11:05 på lördagen och på söndagen.
Det tar knappt 20 min att promenera från Brännö Rödsten till Brännö Skola.
ÖVERNATTNING
Vi ordnar ingen övernattningsmöjlighet till workshopen. Dock kan det finnas stugor och rum att hyra på Brännö som en kan ordna själv. Sajter som brukar annonsera boenden är Airbnb och Facebook-gruppen Brännö anslagstavla. Du får gärna efterlysa folk som vill dela bostad här på eventets sida.
Bio
Dorte Bjerre Jensen
I am currently a PhD student at UC Davis Performance Studies. My research is
grounded within improvisation and score making.
As an art worker and educator, my work is anchored in an evolving artistic inquiry
into multisensory relations of attention through movement manifested as live art
installations,site-specific work,activism, lectures, classes, workshops, writing and
mentorship. I hold an M.F.A. from the Danish National School of Performing Arts.
I have been performing, practicing,writing and teaching contact improvisation for
more than 25 years in Denmark and abroad.
From 2019-2025 I was a part of the research project Experimenting, Experiencing,
Reflecting (EER) between Studio Olafur Eliasson and the Interacting Minds Centre
(IMC), Århus university. As part of EER, I performed my piece “Sharing Perspectives”
at Tate Modern London. Sharing Perspectives that is grounded within the practice of
contact improvisation and score design, gives a rare insight into the world of the
other by embodying another person’s perspective.
My latest work Excorcitium is a participatory performative space that is moving
across the etymologies of exorcism and exercise to address the destructive
structures we are currently facing.The piece offers practices in relation to the
question: How can we be together differently as an act of resistance? And within such an immersive collaborative ritual new futures arise. Performed at The Neue National Gallery Berlin 2025
