Join the Seneca Regional Chamber & Development for a ribbon cutting celebrating the opening of a new First Step Domestic Violence Services satellite office in Tiffin on Friday, October 2 at 2 PM. For the safety and confidentiality of the individuals First Step serves, the location of the new office will remain private. The ribbon cutting ceremony will instead be held in front of the Seneca County Courthouse in Downtown Tiffin, at the corner of Market and Washington Streets.First Step has served survivors of domestic violence and their children since 1980, providing shelter, a 24-hour support line, advocacy, outreach, and support programs. The addition of a satellite office in Tiffin expands access to these critical resources by providing survivors with a secure, trauma-informed space to receive advocacy and support closer to home.
The Tiffin office will be staffed by Criminal Justice Liaison Marrisa Orzechowski, who can assist survivors with filing protection orders, navigating the criminal justice system, connecting with community resources, communicating with service providers, and accessing support throughout their advocacy journey. The new location represents an important step in making services more accessible to individuals and families in the Tiffin and Seneca County community.
The ribbon cutting will also serve as a community kickoff to Domestic Violence Awareness Month, recognized throughout October. Everyone attending the ceremony is strongly encouraged to wear purple in recognition of the month and in support of survivors of violence.
In 2024–2025, 157 lives were lost to domestic violence fatalities. Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community impacted by violence. By wearing purple, community members can help raise awareness while sending a powerful message to survivors: You are not alone. We believe you, we support you, and we stand with you.
