About this Event
As demand for housing continues to grow, cities face increasingly complex questions about how we accommodate new homes, create thriving communities and make the best use of the spaces we already have. How should we balance density, demand and design to create places that are sustainable, successful and enjoyable to live in?
This debate explores the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of housing and the built environment. From increasing urban density and responding to changing housing needs to the quality, character and sustainability of new development, we will consider what it takes to deliver homes that work for people and places.
How can we meet growing demand without compromising design quality? What role should higher-density development play in creating more sustainable communities? And how do we ensure that new housing responds to local character, infrastructure and the needs of the people who live there?
The conversation will examine the competing priorities facing planners, architects, developers and communities, exploring where ambition and practicality meet — and where they can come into conflict.
Key questions include:
- How can we deliver the homes we need while maintaining high standards of design?
- What does successful urban density look like, and how can it support thriving communities?
- How should housing development respond to local character, infrastructure and changing demographics?
- How can we balance the pressures of demand with sustainability, quality and long-term liveability?
Join us for an engaging discussion that challenges assumptions, explores different perspectives and considers how we can shape better places for the future.
A conversation about housing, the places we create and the design decisions that will shape our communities for generations to come.
