About this Event
This friendly, no-pressure workshop breaks the ice with easy hand-drumming patterns and group rhythm games designed to help total strangers find their beat before the main event. No musical experience or rhythm required, just a willingness to make some joyful noise with the people next to you.We'll provide hand drums and a variety of small percussion instruments, so everyone in the room has something to play and a way to join in.Come take part and experience for yourself how making music together — an activity as old as time itself — can help bring strangers together.
This interactive workshop is followed by A Chorus of Connection ft. Choir! Choir! Choir!, which starts at 7pm in the Appel Salon.

The evening will explore the theme of harmony and finding the collective beauty in individual voices. Make the most of your Connect IRL experience by coming before or staying after the featured event. Grab a drink or snack at the bar. Sign up for this workshop or try out one of the engagement activities available, including this event's Conversation Station: Music Cafe, where you can take a moment or two to connect with a stranger through the topic of music.
The Music Café | 5:30 – 6:30 pm & 8:00 –9:00 pm
Pull up a chair at the Music Café, where the conversation starters are about the songs that made you cry, the album that got you through a breakup or the lyric you still can't get out of your head. Prompt cards on artists, genres, memories and moods will be available. This is a low-stakes way to bond with a stranger over shared taste (or gloriously different ones). Take a seat, swap a song story, and leave with a new favourite recommendation.

Through conversation stations meant to spark one-on-one conversations, or hands-on engagement activities and workshops before the featured event, participants can explore the value of connection and community.

Tickets: Free registration required.
Ticket policy: We oversell these events to ensure that the greatest number of people have an opportunity to attend. Tickets guaranteed until 5:45pm or until capacity is reached. Seating first come, first served.
