What to Expect
You'll help construct a living willow spiling installation along the Thames riverside. This traditional technique uses woven willow to protect vulnerable riverbanks whilst creating habitats that support birds, insects, fish, and other wildlife.
During the session you'll:
- Learn the traditional skill of willow spiling
- Help stabilise and restore an eroding riverbank
- Discover how nature-based solutions can improve river health
- Learn about the ecology and heritage of the Thames riverside
- Connect with nature and meet like-minded people in your community
No previous experience is needed - just enthusiasm! All tools, materials, and guidance are provided. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
These sessions are friendly, relaxed, and open to all. Bring along a friend, family member, or come solo and meet like‑minded people. Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided, so we can warm up and chat between tasks.
What to bring:
- Comfortable outdoor clothing
- Sturdy shoes or boots
- A packed lunch
Join us to help restore nature, protect heritage, and create a healthier and greener riverside for wildlife and the community. We would love to have you with us!
