THE COUNTDOWN IS ON AT NOTHE FORT! Just SEVEN more days to see BRITAIN AT WAR at Nothe Fort…
But we have some GREAT NEWS — we’ve been invited back!
On 5th April, our original D-DAY exhibition will be coming to Weymouth before returning home to Normandy in May.
And there will be some new additions to see, including our ‘Marching Soldiers’ — AND something rather extraordinary…
Our life-size 1942 Ford GPW JEEP — made in WOOL!
This really was quite an undertaking. The Jeep was built within millimetres of the real thing, with Ken Lewis in charge of the operation. Ken worked on uniforms, vehicles and more for productions including Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers, so accuracy mattered!
Then our wonderful Longest Yarn ladies got to work — knitting the inside and crocheting the outside.
The result is a full-size Jeep that really does have to be seen to be believed.
And even though I say it myself…
IT’S WORTH SEEING!!
So if you haven’t yet seen Britain at War, you have just SEVEN DAYS LEFT at Nothe Fort.
And if you loved it… we’ll see you again in April for D-DAY! we’ve been inspected by real WW2 Normandy Veterans who loved it too!
