Set in 1967, the story unfolds when Palestinian refugees are given the opportunity to revisit the places they were expelled from in 1948.Saeed and Safiyya, a Palestinian couple forced out of Haifa in 1948, return to the home that once belonged to them. There, they meet Miriam, a Holocaust survivor and Jewish Israeli citizen who now lives in their house. She and her husband had moved in shortly after the Palestinian couple was uprooted.Their return to Haifa is driven by the hope of discovering what happened to their baby, Khaldun, whom they left at home on that April morning in 1948, unaware that neither of them would be able to return. The abandoned baby was adopted by Miriam and her husband, who gave him a Hebrew name: Dov. Now, he is a soldier in the Israeli army.
✨ A rare opportunity to experience this film on the big screen, a chance you may not get again. We’ve also invited our friends at Maktaba bookshop to bring a selection of Ghassan Kanafani’s books for you to browse and explore
