The Skata-likes were formed in February 2020, after Band leader Derek met an ex work colleague, Fiona Hoskin , and Derek asked if she would like to sing in a new Band that he was forming she said yes, so Derek then rang a few friends and the Band was Formed.
The original Skatalites were playing at" Tunes In The Dunes",and Derek was invited to join them on trombone. This gave him the motivation for a new Ska/reggae adventure . Influenced by People like Prince Buster /Rico Rordigues / Tommy McCook / Don Drummond and many more.The rest as they say is history.
The Band now play all over Cornwall, Pubs, Clubs, Weddings and Festivals, Including Main stage at Rattler fest, Falmouth Reggae/ Royal Cornwall Show & Boardmasters Festival to name but a few. Since the last show at the Acorn last year, the band continues to grow from strength to strength now becoming one of Cornwalls top local bands, with some great musicians from all over Cornwall.
