Restore & Revive: Mid-Century Furniture for Beginners
Ever looked at a tired mid-century piece and wondered if it could be saved? In this hands-on 3-hour workshop, I'll walk you through the real restoration process I use on my own projects — including techniques from restoring a pair of 1960s Australian "Inga" armchairs (Blackwood and Queensland Maple frames) that I've been documenting on Instagram.
You'll learn how to:
• Assess and prep a timber frame for refinishing
• Sand and clean back to bare wood without damaging veneer or joinery
• Apply a hard wax oil finish for a durable, professional result
• Avoid the common mistakes that ruin a good piece of furniture
What's included:
• All tools and materials for the session
• Hands-on guidance in a small group (so you actually get 1-on-1 time)
• Take home your own test board / sample piece finished during the workshop
• Light refreshments
This is a beginner-friendly session — no experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to get a little dusty.
