In their first concert of the 2026 academic year, Resonantia Ensemble presents music by two giants of the Roman Baroque: Arcangelo Corelli and George Frideric Handel.Written in 1691 for performance on Christmas Eve, Corelli’s Christmas Concerto forms part of a set of 12 concerti grossi that had a major influence on the development of the concerto. The choir then joins the orchestra for Handel’s Dixit Dominus, an early work full of virtuosity and drama that foreshadows his later success as a composer of operas and oratorios.
Entry is free, with a retiring collection (suggested donation: £5).
Founded in 2025 by Nathanael Smalley, Resonantia Ensemble brings together leading choral scholars and instrumentalists from across Oxford and the UK, with a particular focus on Baroque and early Classical repertoire.
