About this Event
Resilience in Richmond Project Workshop-1 is an in-person workshop for the general public, taking place on 14 November 2026 at ETNA Community Center.
Join the workshop and the project survey to share your experiences of the extreme temperatures in 2026. The project, designed by Meltem Yilmaz, received a successful Richmond Climate Action Microgrant application and aims to understand how the summer’s high temperatures affected people and the local environment.
During summer 2026, temperatures of approximately 30–36°C and a lack of rainfall placed pressure on the environment across the UK, including the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Ecosystems, woodlands and parks were visibly affected, with vegetation turning yellow and becoming increasingly dry. Residents and wildlife were also affected.
The project information describes three community workshops in Richmond, Twickenham and Teddington between October - December 2026. Workshops will study SWOT analysis to explore the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats associated with the summer’s extreme temperatures. An open-source SWOT analysis will also be shared online across the borough so more residents and communities can contribute.
Experiences gathered through the workshops and wider analysis will inform a Resilience in Richmond Project Report assessing the impacts of the summer’s extreme temperatures. Learn more about the project.
