Reserve Walk - Siccaridge Wood

Siccaridge Wood and Sapperton Valley offer a diversity of habitats within a relatively small area. A huge variety of tree species from silver birch and hazel to pedunculated and field maple offer refuge to birds, insects and mammals alike.

The woodland supports a sizeable population of dormice, numbers of which are monitored monthly.

We use many strategies to manage the site such as Coppicing, Tom, your guide on this walk and one of our Land Management Officers, will be able to share why we coppice and show this and other work which has been going on in recent months.
