About this Event
In celebration of International Clinical Trials Day 2026, join us for an engaging hybrid event exploring how patients, public contributors and community members are shaping the future of healthcare research.
Taking place on Wednesday 20 May (5:30-8pm) at the Perrin Lecture Theatre, Whitechapel, and online, this year’s Research Matters event is dedicated to embedding the patient voice in everything we do.
Bringing together leading research centres from Barts Health NHS Trust and Queen Mary University of London, the event will showcase how researchers are working in partnership with patients, carers, and local communities to shape research. From influencing study design to improving experiences and outcomes, these collaborations ensure research reflects the real needs and voices of the diverse population we serve.
The evening will highlight the impact of public involvement and community engagement across a wide range of projects, offering insight into how this work is driving more inclusive, relevant, and trusted healthcare research.
Open to everyone, this event is a chance to learn more about research happening on your doorstep and how you can be part of it. Following record attendance last year, we look forward to welcoming even more of you in 2026 for an inspiring and informative evening.
Registration opens at 5pm, to start promptly at 5:30pm. Following the programme, we ask all attendees to join us for food and drinks reception, where you will get to meet a variety of researchers and associated partners.
Important notice: we are aware of the planned Transport for London (TfL) strikes taking place next week. We do not anticipate this to cause any disruption to our event, and hope you can make it along!
