Our annual requiem offered for the Poor Souls in Purgatory will feature the music of French Baroque composer, André Campra. Campra was one of the best-known composers in France during his lifetime and composed many works in both sacred and secular genres, blending French and Italian musical characteristics. This work for choir and orchestra will be performed within the context of an Extraordinary Form (1962 Missal) Mass and will be sung by the combined St. Gregory and St. Cecilia choirs, featuring instrumentalists and soloists from Jacob’s School of Music and the greater Indianapolis area.
