Hear the Civil War through the words of a soldier who lived it.
Renatum, West Virginia’s professional choir, presents the Mid-Atlantic premiere of The Witness: Incidents of the War of the Rebellion.
Drawing on the handwritten memoir of Union soldier James Waxler, this staged choral work brings the Civil War to life through music, theater, and the firsthand words of a man who experienced it.
Set largely in Jefferson County, WV, and the Shenandoah Valley, The Witness offers a powerful and deeply personal encounter with history.
The Witness is a groundbreaking performance that brings together choral music, theater, and storytelling in the place it first unfolded.
