Remembering Marirose
On Sunday, October 11, 2026 at 2:00 PM, friends, family, fellow musicians, and members of the community will gather at The Queen Bean in Modesto, California for a special afternoon celebrating the life, music, and unforgettable spirit of Marirose Powell.
Marirose was much more than a gifted singer-songwriter and performer. She was a devoted mother and friend, a Nurse Practitioner in ER who cared for others—including on the front lines during the pandemic—and a musician whose voice and generous spirit touched people throughout Northern California and beyond.
For more than 20 years, Marirose brought the music of Stevie Nicks to life with tribute band Mystic Moon, while also creating and performing her own music as a solo artist and with Marirose & the Gypsies. She released three solo albums and earned recognition for her music and performances, including her adventures performing in Los Angeles and recognition through the Modesto Area Music Awards (MAMA).
On October 11, many of the musicians whose lives crossed paths with Marirose will come together to perform, share memories, tell stories, and celebrate the music she loved. The Vibes, The Gypsies, Mystic Moon, The Sweet Taunts, Bill Stevens, Doug Robinett, Ronnie Meyer, Jamie Byous, Mike Alsup, Nathan Ignacio, Brielle Waller, Dylan Soto, Melynda Rodrigues, and more will be part of this special tribute.
Even during the final days of her life, music remained part of Marirose’s story. Just one week before her passing on April 10, 2024, she sang Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” surrounded by people who loved her—a deeply personal performance that went on to touch people far beyond that room. The TikTok video that her family posted went viral and has reached over 4 million views.
This afternoon is about remembering the music, the laughter, the friendships, the kindness, and the woman who had a remarkable way of leaving people better than she found them.
