Jazz Series: Get ready for an electrifying time celebrating Sam Rivers’ legacy.
For 25 years, Doug Mathews laid down the groove as bassist for the incomparable Sam Rivers. As a member of the RivBea Orchestra—Sam’s legendary big band—Doug honed his craft alongside some of the greatest voices in jazz. Though Sam passed before reaching his centennial, the milestone of his 100th birthday inspired Doug to bring together a bold new ensemble: the Rejuvenation Orchestra. Featuring original RivBea members and a new generation of eager young talent, this group carries Sam’s spirit forward in thrilling, unexpected directions.
The Rejuvenation Orchestra rehearses at the white house on every first Sunday of the month.
