REIMAGINING GREEN ISLAND: SIGHTS (FUTURE)
What could Green Island become?
The countdown is on! Join us next Saturday as we conclude our
Reimagining Green Island: STORIES, SOUNDS & SIGHTS series!
We've explored the PAST through STORIES, celebrated the PRESENT through SOUNDS, and now it's time to imagine the FUTURE through SIGHTS!
Saturday, October 31, 2026
11:00 AM–2:00 PM
WRTA Headquarters
60 Foster Street, Worcester, MA 01608
EXPLORE THE PAST. IMAGINE THE FUTURE.
We'll gather at WRTA Headquarters before heading out on our Green Island Walk & Talk, where residents, elders, youth, students, and community leaders can explore neighborhood history and learn from those who know it best.
Participants will receive bags with neighborhood maps, landmarks, worksheets, and community resources.
The first 10 participants will also receive a free pair of drumsticks, courtesy of our previous SOUNDS gathering!
YOUR VISION. YOUR COMMUNITY. YOUR FUTURE!
After the walk, we'll return to share photographs, historical footage, and highlights from our neighborhood explorations. Then it's your turn!Using our worksheets and inspiration from the tour, participants will develop an idea for Green Island's future and have an opportunity to present their vision in a friendly community contest, with prizes for winning presentations!
Whether your idea involves public art, neighborhood beautification, youth activities, cultural preservation, safer public spaces, or something entirely new, we want to see what YOU envision! BRING YOUR SIGHTS!
Have old photographs, family pictures, historic maps, newspaper clippings, artwork, memorabilia, or other pieces of Green Island's history? Bring them to share! We also welcome drawings, proposals, and creative ideas that help us visualize the neighborhood's future.
