About JahRiffe
Born Barriffe Mackenzie on July 6th. He is better known to us JahRiffe. A solo artist plus the lead of the Jah -N-I Roots band. His eclectic background and lifestyle is what makes up this artist and the type of music he makes.
Both parents are Jamaican born and raised, while a young Jahriffe was brought up in the Bronx and in Dorchester USA. A strong and stern up bringing lead to him getting an early idea of multitasking and being efficient while doing so. He grew up hearing and listening to the greats like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Black Uhuru, Jimmy Cliff. He expressed his love for Sizzla, Capleton, Chronixx, Jah9 and the new generation that is still chanting and continuing the fight.
He started his musical journey on the brink of the year 2000 in the midst of the bubble. Music became a comfort and healing. The first album came out 2005 "Rastafari Love". This album gave the band and Jahriffe some notoriety as the numbers climbed and so did the shows. The second album came out 2013 titled "Check Your Timing". Which again lead to the band doing more shows appearing with the likes of Kymani Marley, Mighty Diamonds and many more acts.
In 2016 he had his major break out single "Rasta Can't Fade" which propelled him to a status of sharing stages with the likes of Jah9, Kabaka Pyramid, Ibamar and more stars. The video for the single quickly amassed a 100k views in its first week on Reggaeville.
Now he's working On a few singles and his third studio album. Working with producers like Push A Yute Productions, he's in the Studio with Jah9’s Bass player, JAH D from the ZionHigh Production. It's not complete but looking to be released by the end of April. "Reflections" as he's titled it is going to be one if not the most heartfelt of any of his albums. An album where he chooses to discuss the journey the things he has felt and seen. The make ups and break ups, the ups, and downs of working, being a father, musician and black businessman. The first single from the album is also titled "Reflection" and it's out now on his SoundCloud and other platforms.
