About this Event
Over the past fourteen years, this once-barren landscape has transformed into a thriving ecosystem, through farming with a focus on biodiversity and soil health. And spring is when this land truly comes alive!
Join us for a guided walking tour to experience the interconnected web of life that makes this farm flourish—from fruit-filled orchards, to compost teeming with worms, and animals grazing on lush, diverse pastures. Along the way, you’ll learn how we grow clean, flavorful food by working with nature, not against it.
Apricot Lane Farms spans 234 acres. During your tour, you'll stop by a few key spots, including:
- The garden, a certified wildlife habitat growing a variety of vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers. See first hand how we cultivate biodiversity to bolster the immulonolgy of the land, and help balance pests and disease while growing food.
- Animals including cows, chickens, sheep, ducks, goats and guardian dogs all have a role on our farm and serve a special purpose—who you'll see depends on their dynamic grazing rhythm and current farm locations.
- Farm Fertility Center to learn how we build healthy soil rich in beneficial microbes using worms, compost, and Biodynamic soil amendments.
- Wildlife Ponds, the centerpiece of the farm’s native restoration and wildlife habitat efforts.
- The Fruit Basket, the most biodiverse orchard where 60+ different fruit varieties are cultivated with cover crops and pollinator-friendly plants.
- Alan York Lookout, to take in sweeping views of the farm.
- A visit to Itty the pig, Emma's great-granddaughter!
