The Regeneration Big Band is a high-calibre 17-piece swing and jazz orchestra based in Manchester, England, bringing together some of the North West's finest jazz talent.Founded and led by musical director Nigel Ashworth, the band benefits from his extensive experience as a saxophone player, including a decade touring with the internationally renowned Syd Lawrence Orchestra.
Renowned for its distinctive approach, the Regeneration Big Band performs far more than standard big band favourites. Their repertoire places a strong emphasis on Nigel Ashworth's original compositions and bespoke arrangements, alongside classics spanning the golden age of swing, exhilarating bebop, and contemporary big band jazz.
Tonight's performance features jazz singer Hannah Brine, a singer-songwriter, with a voice & song writing style that have been likened to Melody Gardot, Norah Jones and Rumer. Originally from Leicester, Hannah released her debut album Blue Sky Now in 2025, produced by Jamie McCredie. Tracks from the album have had airplay on Robert Elms’ show on BBC Radio London, on Jazz London Radio, through the BBC Introducing scheme, as well as internationally.
