The Reed Tradition is dedicated to the music of legendary fiddler Henry Reed and his family and other artists from Southwest Virginia’s Glen Lyn-Rich Creek area and just across the line into West Virginia. Drawing on Reed’s tunes and a bowing style he learned from fifer, fiddler and Mexican War and Civil War veteran Quince Dillion, The Reed Tradition keeps that music alive, playing the way Reed played for dances back in the day. The Reed Tradition features fiddlers Chris Via and Bill Blevins with Matt Peyton on guitar, Russ Boyd on banjo, and Tim Thornton on bass.
