REDSHIFT is Twin Ports DSA's series of monthly seminars encouraging self-education and discussion. On the first Tuesday of each month we will be examining a different component of socialist thought. First-year members and anyone interested in our organization are highly encouraged to attend. This October, we're prying open the darkest crypt in political thought and shining a lantern on fascism and the American right-wing. The vampire of capitalism has cast a shadow over the land, it's craven thralls lurk at every turn. We must not falter, a stake must be driven and the body burned.
DSA's National Political Education Committee has provided a curriculum on essential topics, intended for new and prospective members. Using the NPEC's modules as a springboard, we'll be adding further depth and integrated concepts to make this series valuable and thought-provoking for all members. Our intent is that each session will include a friendly and thoughtful open discussion, and be presented with a degree of intellectual rigor. Mental tools are needed to build a better future, and all tools require maintenance.
There is no required reading for any of the sessions. Recommended resources for those with time and interest are available free online, for this session they are as follows:
"Fascism and the American Right" overview by DSA National Political Education Committee
"Trump and American Fascism" by DSA National Political Education Committee

Each session will also be hosted on Zoom, for those who are unable to attend in person.
