🔥Scotlands largest annual anti-capitalist event, RedFest is a forum for the left and activists across Scotland to discuss our collective response to the crises affecting working class people and the planet.
Donald Trump is presiding over a decomposing world order. The genocide in Palestine continues, while the flames of war spread across the Middle East. Tariff wars threaten economic turmoil, and greater power competition with China.
Trump's servile lackey, Keir Starmer has surpassed everyone's worst expectations with his attacks on workers, disabled people, Palestine activists, trans+ people and others. The SNP offers no alternative with its own brand of austerity, militarism and deference to the British state. Only the racist leaders of Reform UK seem to have any momentum.
And meanwhile, the world continues to hurtle towards climate catastrophe, with record-breaking high temperatures and extreme weather events becoming normalised.
Can we stop the right, their racism and attacks on women's and LGBT+ rights? Can workers go on the offensive against Starmer? Can we build more resistance and a bigger left to lead it? Are we doomed by capitalism - or is a socialist future possible?
Initial speakers and themes:
- Phil Marfleet launches new book Palestine, Imperialism and the Struggle for Freedom
- Raquel Varela launches new book on the Portuguese revolution of 1974-75
- Geoff Brown launches new book A People's History of the Anti-Nazi League
